Position:  RULE 9 INTERN

Location:  KENT Office

Description:  Associated Counsel for the Accused (ACA), a non-profit Public Defender Law Firm (contracting with the City of Seattle and King County), has a part-time opening for an already qualified and certified APR Rule Nine intern to work out of our Kent Office.  Applicants must be immediately able to practice as a Rule Nine intern under the Washington State Admission to Practice Rules and ideally must be Work Study qualified.  This employment opportunity is temporary, for the duration of three months from date of hire; however, the term of employment may be and often is extended by mutual agreement.  The number and schedule of work hours will be determined based on the candidate’s availability and ACA’s need; however a Work Study arrangement is generally preferred, which therefore limits the work hours to a maximum of 20 hrs/week.   Duties will include assisting attorneys in pre-trial hearings, legal research, and limited court appearances.  Courtroom duties may expand depending on performance.  Beginning compensation will be $15.00 per hour with no benefits.  The ideal candidate will be able to start work ASAP.  ACA is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to the achievement of a positive work environment.

Note:  ACA does not hire attorneys (those who have passed the bar) into Rule 9 Intern positions.

How To Apply:  Application should be by letter of interest and resume submitted ASAP but no later than on or before November 30, 2011; although the position will remain open until filled.  Please specify that you are Rule 9 qualified; and whether or not you are eligible-available for a Work Study arrangement.  Faxes or emails are acceptable.  Inquiries or resumes should be submitted, Attention Sara White, 110 Prefontaine Place South, Suite 200, Seattle, Washington 98104.  Phone number:  206.624.8105 ext.234.  Fax number:  206.624.9339.  Email address:  .
